Saka strike sinks Rivers Utd

Sunshine Stars edged Rivers United 1-0 in a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Matchday 10 encounter on Sunday evening at the Akure Township Stadium.

Ayo Saka's 38th minute stunner was enough for the Owena Waves to secure
the maximum three points off the visitors and their first victory from six
NPFL matches.
Saka let fly from distance and his powerful shot beat Rivers United goalkeeper, Femi Thomas.
Rivers United resumed the second half the better side and dominated the
game.
Sunshine Stars goalkeeper, Ojo Olorunleke was the hero for his team
with several saves in the game.
An elated Ayo Saka says the result will motivate the team to redeem their
season from a poor start.
"I am excited my goal was enough to guarantee the victory, I am familiar
with Rivers United because I played for years in Port Harcourt.
''I saw their goalkeeper off his line and I picked my position to shoot.
"We had a long week and we were able to manage the situation and bounce
back to victory. We haven't won for a while and we are happy to win against
a decent team like Rivers United.
"The victory is key and will serve as a motivation for us. We need to shake
off our poor start to the season and pick results that will push us up on the log.
"We have resolved to redeem our season and put behind us the poor situation.
We had a discussion with the team management and we have got assurance for a better welfare.

Akure.
The win lifted Sunshine Stars above the bottom four to 11th position with
12 points from 10 NPFL matches.
