NWFL Congress Adopts Abridged Format For New Season

The Nigeria Women Football League board has adopted an abridged format for the 2016/17 season.
The country's topflight campaign will commence on 25th March 2017, while the second division will get underway a fortnight later.
The Annual General Congress which took place on Wednesday 22nd February, 2017, in Abuja, will draw a road map ahead of the coming season.
Sixteen teams were divided into two Groups in the draw.
Group A is made up of defending champions Rivers Angels, COD Ladies, Bayelsa Queens, Ibom Angels, Heartland Queens, FC Robo Queens, Sunshine Queens and Abia Angels.
2011/12 NWPL league champions Delta Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Osun Babes, Confluence Queens, Abia Angels, Adamawa Queens, Edo Queens and debutants Saadatu Kolo Amazons make up Group B.
A Super Four tournament will be used to determine the eventual champion of the top flight.
Rivers Angels are the defending champions of the NWPL.
