NPFL Transfer: Ovoke Return To Rivers United

Bernard Ovoke made a stunning move back to the "Pride of Rivers" on a half season deal with option of extension.


The left footed forward left the Port Harcourt base side to join Plateau United in 2019. From there, he joined FC Sevan of Armenia.


During his first spell at Rivers United, having signed from Bayelsa United, Ovoke became a key component for Stanley Eguma starters blossomed into a star figure mesmerising defenders.


Ovoke, knew it will be difficult breaking into the team with the current depth of squad at Rivers United disposal, will help to bolster the team performance at the resumption of the second stanza of Nigeria Professional Football League.


Meanwhile, Coach of Rivers United spoke about beefing up the squad on some areas they have observed as to consolidate on their position for the second round.


"Though we are not a perfect team but at least the boys are doing well. However, there could be one or two inclusion because of the grey areas that we've observed,"


"There are one or two department that we might want to beef up and that is eminent, very important to do because we don't want to see any loopholes in the second round,"


Eguma further explain the competitiveness of Nigeria league as the toughest in Africa. "Nigeria league is one of the toughest in Africa, you can see the rivalry, you can see the competition, is very tight as for you to maintain that first position, you need to to be at your best all the time". Eguma stated.


The Nigeria Professional Football League will now proceed on a two week mid-season break, set to resume back action on April 4th, 2022
