Port Harcourt agog for 1st Tonye Jekiri Basketball Challenge

There is unbridled of excitement in Port Harcourt within the basketball community as the first Tonye Jekiri PHC Basketball Challenge tip off today with no fewer than eight teams taking part in the maiden edition of the PHC challenge at the Rivers Hoopers Basketball Court in Port Harcourt.

The tournament, a Port Harcourt City Basketball Challenge is tagged: “Time To Give Back” basketball clinic will see over hundreds of kids between the gaes of Seven to Fifteen years. They will receive free branded and reversible basketball uniforms.

The Tonye Jekiri Basketball Challenge and “Time to Give Back” clinic is the first in the country where every category of basketball players will participate. As the tournament would see basketball fans thrilled by ankle-breaking crossovers, jaws dropping shots, and dunks in an electrifying environment with the usual razzmatazz of the game.

WHO IS TONYE JEKIRI

Tonye Jekiri is product/alumni of the DA-F Basketball program where he began his basketball career, he’s a graduate of the University of Miami in the United State of America and has played for Nigeria’s Men Basketball team, D’Tigers.

At club level, Tonye Jekiri has played for BC Oostend in Belgium, Asvel in France, Naskonia in spain and currently with Unics Kazan.

Meanwhile, the organizer have concluded plans, dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s to stage an historical basketball challenge with match-day 1 will witness four matches where the opening game will see Okrika Hawks lock horns with DA-F Kings at 3pm, the second game of the day between Peace Makers and P.Town Ballers slugs it out by 4pm, Ricday face Favour Arena BC at 5pm while last encounter of the day involving E-Bluk and SBMF will take centre stage at 6pm.
