In the women single, Dorcas Adesokan subdued her opponent Johanita Scholtz 21-13, 21-15 while in the Men single, Anuoluwapo Opeyori continued in a fashion putting up excellence display defeating Ruan Snyman of South Africa 21-10, 21-14 ensuring Team Nigeria maintained 5-0 win.

Meanwhile, in the other match-up encounter, Algeria, Ghana, Egypt, and Mauritius has a smooth ride over their rivalry in the championships defeating Togo, Ivory Coast, Congo DR, and Benin 5-0 respectively.

“For the women doubles we played very well, everything we’ve learnt at the training, we are able to put it into practice,” Adesokan said

“They were very tough because they are number 1 in Africa, so we are very glad to defeat them; talking about South Africa they are a great team, so for us to beat them, then I will say we are up there”.

“We are looking forward for the gold, we want to win the tournament, it’s a good start and this is giving us more support, strength and power to put more efforts,” Adesokan added.

Deborah Ukeh also said that it’s a good start for team Nigeria to defeat South Africa 5-0 in a roll and the win will give the team edge over other countries.

“We are playing Zimbabwe in our next game, hopefully it still going to be 5-0 wins over them,” Deborah Ukeh concluded.
