OKON PLEASED WITH PLAYERS' PERFORMANCE DESPITE 3-1 LOSS

Head Coach of Rivers Angels Football Club, Edwin Okon says he was impressed with the performance of his girls in Thursday's 1-3 loss to Port Harcourt City Academy Boys.

According to the gaffer, the goals scored by the U-18 boys were from mistakes in the first half which was corrected in the second half and that ensured his side had better impact and control.

Port Harcourt City Academy led 3-0 in the first 45 minutes but Damilola Koku scored Rivers Angels only goal in the 83rd.

Okon believes the game was a good test for the Reigning Champions of the Nigeria Women Football league Premiership.

"It's a very good game, they played well and as you can see, the boys we played are Under 18 with so much energy," he said.

"The girls gave a good account of themselves today so impressed.

"They scored three goals in the first half from minor errors but they couldn't score any in the second half and we're going back to correct these errors.

"It is a very good one and there are more matches to see in order to ascertain the strength of the team," Okon added.

The former Super Falcons gaffer also confirmed that his side will be playing another friendly on Friday with SKE U18 at the same venue and time.

"You could see the ball handling and play which was quite impressive," Okon said.

"We will be going back to talk to ourselves on today's performance ahead of our next friendly with SKE U-18 Boys tomorrow.

"I'm pretty sure the girls will put up a better outing on Friday," he summed.

The Jewel of Rivers will be representing Nigeria in this Year's WAFU B qualifiers in Cote D'Ivoire for a chance to participate in the maiden edition of the CAF Women's Champions League slated to hold in Egypt this year.
