Nigerian referee advocates for adequate and functional security for better officiating


Nigeria Referee plying his trade in the Nigeria National League has voice out his sentiment on the treatment of administrators and fans melted out to match officials handling the round leather games.


The referee who spoke in condition of anonymity calls for adequate and functional security structure around the stadia for better officiating during league games.


He also noted that referee's are human prone to mistakes but shouldn't be the base to bringing the game into disrepute.


The young referee is one of the fast rising stars at his prime in the chores of Nigeria believes the league can be better and improve officiating when administrators are held accountable for actions of their fans with severe sanctions.


"I'm a strong advocate for adequate and functional security around our stadium to curb the menace and harassment of match officials during league games.''


"Football is a game without violence that brings about unity, peace and entertainment among spectator's and organisers of the game."


"Referee's are humans like the fans and should not be treated as outcast, without the referee in between the stick, then no football, there are rules of the games to be followed, club administrators should spend time to educate their fans more  on the laws of the games for better atmosphere.' He concluded.


Many sports enthusiasts have also added their voice to the inhuman treatment of referee by tugs, fans and sports administrators thereby calling on stiffer sanctions on herring clubs.


The recent attack on Referee is the game involving Kano Pillars and Akwa United in match day 27 of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League in Kaduna leaving lover's of football calling on the League Management Company to swing into action for stiffer sanctions.
