National U21: Team Kaduna, Team Rivers emerged Champions of Mabisel Hockey Tournament

Team Kaduna and Team Rivers emerged Champions of the Mabisel National U21 Hockey Tournament in the men and women category respectively.

The national tournament which was held at the Hockey Pitch of the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Omagwa unearth raw telented individuals to the amusement of the organisers.

In the women's category, Team Rivers defeated their close rivals Team Kuduna 2-1 in a pulsating encounter, while the Men's category, Team Kaduna produced class to see off Team Lagos 1-0 in a keenly contested game.

The sole financier of the tournament also the Managing Director of Mabisel Group of Companies, Sir Joseph Francis Alagoa was in a state of estacy for the success of the competition.

He noted that the main reasons for sponsoring the hockey tournament is to encourage the youth and to make them leader's of tomorrow.

"It's good to sponsor Hockey because we need to encourage the youth and bring them out from the streets and also to make sure they are our leaders of tomorrow,"

"I've been doing that, we did one before, this is the second one and we will continue to do it.

According to him, "For both winner's, I'm going to give 2.5 million to the girls and for the boys 2.5 while the other ones 500 hundred thousand Naira each, so that's a good encouragement, so they will also encourage others". He concluded.

The event witness massive turnout as winner's of men and women category will both smile to the bank after emerging Champions of Mabisel National U21 Tournament while other participating teams also got their own share of the largesse.

Other individual prices were won at the tournament and scholarship given to the youngest player from Team Lagos in the men's category and the youngest female player from Team Rivers.
