Team Rivers edge passes Team Delta 34-29
It was a thrilling encounter yesterday at the Port
Harcourt Basketball pitch when Team Rivers hosted Team Delta.
The home team ousted their visitors 34-29 to round off the first opening game
in the on-going Tyroll and Thompson maiden edition of the south-south under 18
male and female handball championships.
First half of the game ended 18-15 in favoured of
Team Rivers amassing major score to ease pass their visitor Team Delta.
Coach Olusanjo Ogundoro of Team Rivers in a
post-game interview expresses his disappointed over the neglect of his team by
the ministry of sports in the state.
“The players are only playing with determination”.
He affirmed
“The sports commissioner should come to our aid in
making sure that the team are well taking care-off.
“The Players are playing with empty stomach and they
are not motivated.’ told KelvianoSports.
Meanwhile, Barrister Thompson expresses delight over
the large turnout of spectators and participating team from the South-South
Region.
“This is the first edition of the competition; we
hope to make it annual events for young handball players’. He said
“The standard is good and we need to improve to be
like the world standard.
“The purpose of the competition is to see that
Handball become an intriguer part of young one in the state.
Furthermore, the competition will witness Team Bayelsa
take on Team Akwa Ibom in the second game.
