Adamawa Queens Squad
Adamawa Queens defeat Abia Angels by a lone goal in a keenly-contested match day 3 of the Nigerian Women Premier League (NWPL) played at the Atiku Abubakar Stadium, Fufore, as the host inflicted Abia Angels with their second loss in three games after a the game ended 1-0 in favour of the host team.

Adamawa Queens started strongly in the first few minutes, pushing forward to score an early goal  but the Defenders of Abia Angels were on ground to curtail the attacks. It didn't last long as a corner kick resulted to a goalkeeping howler by Yetunde Adesina which gifted Oluchi Nwachukwu the goal in the 19th minute to unsettle Abia Angels players.

Some minutes later, Abia Angels Hanatu Lamba  was substituted for Nwamaka Nnaneme who had an immediate impact surging forward to equalise the game in the first half but Adamawa Queens quickly reorganized their Defence to deny her that.

Captain Orjiugo Godson had the best opportunity in the 61st minute when she struck outside the 18 yards box but her effort was denied by Adamawa Queens  Goalkeeper who made a brilliant save.

Abia Angels made second half substitutions as Eunice Ezeani was introduced for Merit Offor while Favour Emmanuel came out for Chinenye Emenike in the 66th minute.

Several attempts by the Angels from the East to equalise the game was futile as Adamawa Queens employed some delay tactics which made the Center Referee to book both the Goalkeeper and Defender but they held on to a much needed home win.

While answering questions from the Media, the Technical Adviser of Adamawa Queens Baba Buba  said it was a relief for his team to have secured all three points after playing their first two games away.

''We felt under pressure to perform well today being our first home game and also considering that Abia Angels are a good side. I am quite satisfied with my girls performance and I will work towards replicating this feat in subsequent games''.

Abia Angels Coach Ann Chiejine said it wasn't a bad performance from her girls ''The long distance and fatigue contributed to the way we played, we should have equalised the game but every move forward was adjudged offside by the two Assistant Referees''.

Abia Angels next game will be at home against  Jokodolu Babes on 2nd May 2018.
