Senior Instructor DA-F Basketball Program and Coordinator of The Future of Naija Basketball project, Coach Fubara Onyanabo stated that the Youth Festival is to peep into the future of Nigerian basketball.

Coach Fubara Onyanabo disclosed this in a chat with www.kelvianomedia.blogspot.com.ng said the vision came to him five years ago to see that raw talents are unearth and basketball in Nigeria is being developed for better.

He believes that in the next Ten to Twenty years to come, the future of basketball in Nigeria will be of high quality and standard to compete favourably with other countries especially the NBA

"What you see here today will tell you how Nigerian basketball will be in the next 10, 15, 20 years,"

"For me, the idea behind it is not about South-South is a nation wide stuff, teams came from Lagos, a team was supposed to come from Maiduguri but at the last minute, they could not make it to Port Harcourt,"

"The idea for the vision came to me five years ago like I said in my press briefing, I was looking how big this project was and not how big my God is,"

"But this year, I said come what may, I'm gonna do it and to God be the glory you can see what is happening here,"

"This is the first edition and you can see we have almost 38 teams, and by the second edition we are going to have more teams, is going to be higher, everything gonna be better," Coach Fubara disclosed.

Teams from Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Ebonyi, Imo, Lagos and Port Harcourt took part in the first edition of The Future of Naija Basketball.
