Nigeria Mixed Martial Arts Federation Holds Technical Workshop for Athletes

The Nigerian mixed Martial Arts Federation, NMMAF has held a national technical workshop to enlighten athletes, coaches and officials on some technicalities and latest development in the Sport and in preparation for upcoming events.


The workshop which took place at Civic Center Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Friday had American based Brazilian jiu-jitsu BJJ/MMA Champion D’Juan Owens as resource person with other professionals who talked on the basic technicalities of meeting global standard of amateur mixed martial arts.


The training was mainly held for developmental purposes of the Sport in the country and in line with the rules and laws of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation, IMMAF. 


The President of the Federation Ambassador Henry George Dfc Africa Mma speaking to the federation’s media after the event said the workshop is in preparation for the upcoming international events and part of efforts to properly inform athletes. 



"Well, it is a national workshop, the essence of the workshop is to educate the coaches, athletes officials and refrees to educate them on the Sport of Mixed Martial Arts and prepare them for upcoming international events, this is why we brought a professional, a champion from the United States of America D’Juan Owens”.


He also explained, "It is to keep athletes, officials ready and abreast with the latest development, it is totally for the developmental aspect of the Sport."



The two day event started July 16th and ends July 17th 2021 at Alfred Diete Spiff Sports Complex, Civic Center Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
