Saiki Mary scored the winner in a dramatic penalty shoot out as Nasarawa Amazons beat Rivers Angels 5-4 on Sunday to win the 2019 Aiteo Cup for the first time since 2005

Amazons Saiki Mary coolly slotted home her spot kick to spark frenzied celebrations among her teammates and the Amazons fans in Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

Chiwendu Orji stepped up to take the fourth penalty for Rivers Angels but her kick was saved to hand Amazons the advantage as Philip Lola well taking fourth penalty went past Tochukwu Oluehi bringing the score to 3-4 in favour of the Amazons.

Evelyn Nwabuoku makes no mistake to restored back hope for the "Jewel of Rivers" scoring the fifth penalty for her side, hoping Amazons will failed to covert for the score to levelled.

The match had finished 0-0 after regulation time, with both side settling for goalless draw before going straight into lottery of penalties to decide who wins it.

The game itself had taken a while to get going and, in truth, the atmosphere in the stands was far more impressive than what was taking place on the pitch.

It would be the first time "Jewel of Rivers" will be losing in a cup final after claiming the Aiteo Cup trophy for 8 times winning it back to back in 2017 and 2018 defeating Ibom Angels.

The Nasarawa side pocketed the princely sum of Ten Million Naira (N10m) as well as the Aiteo Cup trophy while the runners-up, Rivers Angels, took home the sum of Five Million Naira (N5m).
