The Swallows of Burundi captain Saido Berahino anticipate tough challenge against Nigeria when they face off in their 2019 Africa Cup of Nation opening game.

The former Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion said captaining his side for the first time in such a tournament is a massive honour for him and hope of passing his wealth of experience in Europe to his team mates.

Berahino who is set to make his debut in the continental with the Swallows, disclosed that they are not under any pressure against the three-time African champions.

"We've been called underdogs from the qualifications stages and for us we just take each game as they come by, most of the players are motivated because we can play freely, so that releases a bit of pressure on us and we can play without fear at all and that's why we managed to show in the qualification and went through unbeaten".

"Burundi has always been my home land and have always wanted to play for Burundi and been able to captain Burundi for the first time in such a tournament is a massive honour for me, there is a lot on my shoulder but you know with this feeling of playing in Europe am sure I can pass that to my team mates".

The game between Nigeria and Burundi will be played at Alexandria Stadium, Alexandria, 6pm Nigerian time.
