Okrika Hawks emerge champions of All
Comers Basketball Championship tagged “Come Lets Ball” in Port Harcourt after
defeating promising DA-F Rising Stars 92-80 in a thrilling encounter.
The DA-F Rising Stars set the moment
high, pulling an early lead with 7 points difference at the end of the first quarter
that ended 17-24 in favour of the young rising stars.
The hard fighting Okrika Hawks closed up
the gap and going on to claim the second quarter with a points difference,
bringing the score to 41-40 after Opuda Ogan 15 points shots and Alamina Belema
adding 9 points to ease out Rising Stars at half time.
Okrika Hawks took the third quarter by
extending the lead with total scores at 70-56. The Okrika side chalked up
points from free throws and three pointers shot to show their prowess of
experience in the game as the desperate young DA-F Rising Stars fouled them at
intervals.
As they entered the crucial and final
quarter, DA-F Rising Stars and Most Valuable Player of the championship,
Cherish Eric did it in style like Steph Curry producing an emphatic 6 three
pointer shots which send the atmosphere ablaze, while Ebuka Opara keeps the
energy as point guard to run off the hawks side.
Okrika Hawks did it in style to hold on
their depth of experience, maintaining 12 points gap ending the fourth quarter
at 92-80 to claim the trophy in a thrilling and sapping encounter.
Earlier, Rivers Hoopers Coach Ogoh
Odaudu boys, Olumeni Warriors had beaten DA-F Bigger Boys 84-71 in a tight
match to clinch the third spot of the championship.
Most Valuable Player Award, Most Three
Pointer of the Championship, and cash reward were presented to the outstanding best
perform teams and individual of the championship courtesy of the Rivers State
Basketball Association.
