Super Eagles Climb Up In FIFA Ranking
Super Eagles climb up FIFA Rankings table despite defeat to South Africa.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria has moved up one place in the new FIFA ranking released on Thursday morning.
Defeat by South Africa in June’s 2019 AFCON qualifier unexpectedly didn’t affect Nigeria on the monthly ratings by FIFA.
Surprisingly, they climbed up from 40th position to 38th. Nigeria tally on 716 points with Greece, thus they are ranked in same 38th position.
The Super Eagles are the sixth highest ranked African country. Egypt (25) leads the way, followed by DR Congo (28) and then Senegal (31). Tunisia (34) and Cameroon (35) complete the top-5.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s opponents in the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifier, Cameroon, also moved up one place to 35th position.
Next ranking release date will be on September 14, 2017.
