Hoopers Aim For Victory As Regular Season Ends

As the regular season of the 2016/2017 Kwese Premier Basketball League comes to a close this week, teams are in for a tough battle at both ends of the table. While the top two battle for supremacy, the bottom two are aiming to survive the drop.

Rivers Hoopers and Kwara Falcons are currently 1st and 2nd respectively on the Atlantic Conference log. Hoopers have lost 4 games in the league this season one less than their nearest rival, Kwara Falcons. And a win in their last two games will ensure the KingsMen end the regular season at the top of the Atlantic Conference table.

Rivers Hoopers coach Ogoh Odaudu said the last two games will serve as preparatory games for the Conference 6 playoffs.

"From now it is practice for us. We are trying to put into place all the things we are going to do in the playoffs."

"We are going to approach the two games the way we have approached every other game at the beginning of the season," said Odaudu.

The Conference 6 playoffs is scheduled to hold between August 14 - 18.

"We are not saying because we have qualified so we should go out there and lose the two games .It doesn't send a good message to our sponsor and the players. So we are going to go all out and keep with that winning mentality going into the playoffs." Odaudu stated.

Rivers Hoopers will play inform Hoops & Read on Thursday while the game against relegation threatened NAF Rockets will be played on Saturday. Both games will be played at 6pm in Lagos.
