The Nigeria Premier Basketball League (NPBL) has reached a fever pitch as the Final 4 teams have been confirmed, with Lagos Legends, Rivers Hoopers, Gboko City Chiefs, and Nigeria Customs set to battle it out for the championship title and a chance to represent Nigeria in the 2026 Basketball Africa League (BAL).
The four teams have emerged as the cream of the crop, showcasing exceptional skill, agility, and brilliance on the court. Lagos Legends and Rivers Hoopers have been in scintillating form, with both teams outclassing their opponents and winning six games each while tasting only one defeat in the run of play.
Rivers Hoopers, the defending champions, have been particularly impressive, having won their sixth championship title in 2024 and securing a spot in the BAL for the second straight season. Led by their standout player Kelvin Amayo, who was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the 2024 season, the team is looking to retain their title and make a strong impression in the BAL.
Meanwhile, teams like Nile University, Hoops and Read, Kano Pillars, and Kwara Falcons, despite putting up a good fight, fell short of making it to the final four. Nile University had a strong start, but their momentum waned in the latter stages, while Kwara Falcons had a tough campaign, failing to secure a single win. Kano Pillars and Hoops and Read also showed flashes of brilliance, but ultimately came up short.
The Final 4 playoffs will take place from November 21st to 23rd, 2025, in Port Harcourt, which has become a basketball hub in Nigeria. The games are expected to be thrilling, with each team vying for the top spot and the opportunity to represent Nigeria in the BAL.
The NPBL Final 4 playoffs promise to be an exciting and closely contested competition, with each team giving it their all to emerge victorious.
