Niger Delta Sports Festival Trials Hit Ogbia Local Government
With the National Sports Festival coming up in May this year, Bayelsa State is hoping to triumph in the Niger Delta Sports Festival when the games commences.
The search for talents in the various constituencies and local government hit Ogbia local government as the teams converge on Otuasega for the football trials with over 200 players taking part on the exercise.
The constituencies and local government trials have in the last three days witnessed the discovery of raw talents in the various sports ahead of the games.
Earlier in the trials there were displays of talents in Swimming, Boxing, Wrestling and other sports at the various local governments in the state with commissioner for Sports Development Dr. Daniel Igail monitoring proceedings.
Speaking at Otuasega in Ogbia LGA, supervisory councilor in sports in the LGA, Mr Rani Benson, applauded the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC for the initiative, stating that the gesture would positively engage the youths in the region.
He expressed confidence that the players selected during the trials would give Bayelsa State good representation in the fiesta, pointing out that talents would be properly harnessed from the exercise.
Mr. Benson urged the youths in the region particularly Otuasega community to make use of the opportunity before them as future stars would emerge from the programme.
