Real Madrid Academy thrills Gernot Rohr, NFF Technical Director

The Real Madrid Academy in Port Harcourt played host to Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr and Nigeria Football Federation Technical Director, Augustine Eguavoen could not contain their excitement as they hailed the vision behind the Real Madrid Academy in Port Harcourt.

Gernot Rohr says the infrastructures are high level and can be compared to one of the best academies in Europe.

“The infrastructures are high level, is like in Europe, and you can compare it to one of the best academies in Europe like they have in Spain; Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, in France; Paris, in Germany; Bayern Munich, so I think they are ready to start this programme, it’s a wonderful structure also a good pitch and we will be very interested to see what they can do,”

“What I like is that, is not only football but also the school side; teachers are coming because you are never sure to succeed in football, and if you don’t succeed in football,  there can be injuries and other programme, is always good to have the school side, they did not forget that,”

Speaking further, Gernot Rohr commended the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike for embarking on a great work that will groom future stars into the Super Eagles.

“I think the Governor did a great work and now they have to select the best players to bring some players in few years into the Super Eagles,”

“The best country in football, like Spain, France, Germany they have very good academies, and  if you want to have a good A team, you need to work a lot with the young to give them the possibilities to be educated in football at first but also in school,”

“For the future of the country, is very important to have this kind of infrastructure I think is an example for other states perhaps, for the federation,” Gernot Rohr concluded.

Speaking to www.kelvianomedia.blogspot.com.ng on his part, the Nigeria Football Federation Technical Director, Augustine Eguavoen tips the Real Madrid Academy structure as top notch in the country, not to be compared with other academies that are not standard.

“What we’ve come here to see today is wonderful and excellent, hopefully we will gain from this in time to come,” Augustine Eguavoen echoes.

“We cannot compare Real Madrid with Villarreal, So you can’t compare this academy structure to some academy we see all over but that’s not to say we’ll talked them down we will find a way to encourage them and see how we can help one another because football is collective,”

“Hopefully, we will benefit from this, because of the passion and the talents we have in the country, academy are been open all over but many of them don’t make it standard,”

“The bottom line is about football to start with, Rivers state government have committed so much and thanks to Real Madrid also for partnering with us”.
