CLUB OWNERS ELECT OTUENE AS NWFL CHAIRMAN

Thursday in Enugu, Club Owners in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) gathered inside the conference hall of Hotel Codial to elect new officios to take lead of the affairs of the league's clubs ahead of the new season. 

Representatives of thirteen clubs from the 20 teams in both the Premier and Pro league formed a significant majority and was enough to secure a quorum.

Mrs Matilda Otuene Onyiloha was elected unopposed as the Nigeria Women Football League's Club Owners Chairman while Mr Emmanuel Osahon of FC Robo was elected Vice Chairman.

Hajia Hussenia of Nasarawa Amazons emerged Secretary of the Association and Abia Angel's Roland Gbaruko was voted Treasurer for the pressure group.

Delivering her acceptance speech, Mrs Onyiloha promised to protect the interest of the clubs and bring in opportunities that will be beneficial to the clubs and players.

“Firstly, I want to thank God for giving me the privilege to serve and I equally appreciate the Congress for the trust and support”, Onyiloha began.

“We intend to partner with the NWFL board to see how seminars and workshops will be organized. The club managers need specialised trainings, and our coaches need more refresher courses.

“I equally want to share my ideas as Team Manager of Rivers Angels to other teams which has seen my players engage in other activities other than football”, she added.
The 2020 season of the Nigeria Women Football League is expected to kickoff on March 18 with defending champions, Rivers Angels playing host to Lagos' FC Robo Queens at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium.
